I have 4 children, Grumpy, Stroppy, Squiggle and Mini Mum.
As it is the summer holidays I thought it would be nice to take them out, just to a little stream down the road from us. Grumpy as usual kicked off (he's 12 & don't we know it), it's boring, but then everything is so it makes no difference. Stroppy couldn't get out of the house fast enough despite me not having packed the picnic up yet, Squiggle wasn't sure & needed to be reminded where it was (he's the autistic one). and Mini Mum who rushed around packing the things we needed & making sure everyone was wearing crocs to go in the water with, she got the towels sorted while I made lunch, she then carried it all to the car.
10 minutes was all it took to get there, thats 10 minutes of moaning from Grumpy, and squealing & poking Squiggle from Stroppy. Mini Mum sat shouting at them all to behave or I would turn the car back.
Upon arrival I thought we couldn't go there any more, there were no other cars despite it being a lovely day so I checked all signs & braved leaving the car. Grabbing nets & the bucket from the car we made our way to the glorious stream. Absolute peace aside from my 4 & it was lovely. They were told their boundaries & I set them free. Mini Mum spent time filling the bucket up with water to make sure any fish they caught would be ok before popping off to try & find some fish. Grumpy actually looked like he was enjoying himself & Squiggle just kept coming back to the bucket with fish, (I think he must have been a caveman in a previous life, he was great).
The picnic was well received & then the other families started arriving. I didn't mind a bit of company really, it had been peaceful but maybe other people should be more aware of what is going on arund them. When you are 15-16 & your mouth is like a sewer perhaps the best place isn't where there are multiple young children, Mum couldn't care less what they were up to, even her approx 3 yr old was allowed to wander off on her own where she couldn't be seen. I wonder why some people have children!!! very judgemental of me perhaps but I don't care. Little girl had obviously fallen over in the water when she came back as she was sopping head to toe, Mum's reaction???? wish there had been one, not even an "are you ok?". Mini Mum rushed over to her and asked her if she was ok, had she hurt herself? She's lovely really.
However after 30 mins of ol' sewer mouth & her family I could tolerate it no more & took my children home. cue 10 mins constant squabbling in the car home again! Grumpy claimed it was all boring anyway (he looked like he was having fun to me), Squiggle declared he loved it, Stroppy declared she caught the most fish causing an outrage between her & Squiggle as he had clearly caught more fish & Mini Mum sat & declared that "I give up there's no pleasing some people" (can't think where she's heard that before).
So that was yesterday & my first blog lol been a while since I did one of them.
